Rapper L’Gnawi will not be able to avoid the one-year prison sentence. The appeal trial only confirmed the verdict handed down by the Salé court for "insulting a public official".
L’Gnawi had, in a live video on his Instagram account, insulted the police. Subsequently, he justified his act as a direct consequence of a police check that he experienced as a "humiliation", notes Hespress.
But his lawyer still believes that behind the artist’s arrest and conviction is his latest title, "Long Live the People" (3ach cha3b), which he performs with two other rappers, denouncing "injustice" and "the appropriation of wealth".
