Moroccan Radio Station Warned by HACA for Ethical Violations in Programs

The High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HACA) has issued a warning to the company "Radio 20", owner of "Radio Mars", for "non-compliance with the legal and organizational provisions relating to the ethics of programs, the preservation of human dignity, the protection of the young public and the duty of control of the broadcast".
According to a press release from the HACA, three episodes of the programs "Al Haqiqa Fi 90 Daqiqa" and "Mars Attack", broadcast on May 23, 26 and 29, 2023, have raised observations. These episodes would contain expressions "which do not respect the legal and regulatory provisions" established for the audiovisual media.
The HACA also points to the broadcast of violent and denigrating remarks, although intended for unidentified persons. These comments seem to target a part of the public of the sports team whose guest in one of the programs was the president. The lack of intervention by the host in the face of these remarks was highlighted, in contradiction with "the general duty of control of the broadcast and the preservation of a certain level of debate".
The High Authority for Audiovisual Communication concludes its press release by criticizing the expressions used, deemed inappropriate for an analysis and discussion of sporting events. Furthermore, it reproaches the host for not having clearly condemned the offensive remarks against a person, in contradiction with the requirements of control of the broadcast and respect for the listeners.
