Moroccan Protester Given Suspended Sentence for Water Shortage Demonstration

A demonstrator, prosecuted for protesting against the drinking water cuts suffered by the Douar Haha, in Marrakech, was sentenced to 3 months in prison with a suspended sentence.
The justice system was not very lenient with Rabia, one of the protesters against thirst, reports Alyaoum24. She would have humiliated a civil servant in the performance of his duties, according to a complaint filed against her by the Menara district of Marrakech. She was released after spending 15 days in pre-trial detention.
According to the Marrakech section of the Moroccan Association for Human Rights (AMDH), she was arrested on July 13 to answer for her actions.
The NGO has also called on the competent authorities to guarantee the right of the inhabitants to demonstrate peacefully, to respond to their demands through dialogue and to guarantee their right to drinking water and decent housing with dignity.
