Moroccan Private Schools Donate $200,000 to COVID-19 Fund After Controversy

The private education sector, after having aroused the anger of Moroccans with demands deemed inappropriate, has just contributed to the Covid-19 fund. It has donated 2 million dirhams to cover health expenses and support economic sectors affected by the crisis.
The Alliance of Private Education in Morocco (AEPM) had distinguished itself by an initial message that cast doubt on the patriotism of its actors. But they made amends by presenting, on Friday, apologies to the Moroccans who were shocked by the demands they had addressed to the authorities at a time when the contribution of all is being sought to fight a common enemy: the coronavirus.
While making its contribution, the AEPM called on everyone to participate in the account opened with Bank Al-Maghrib. It also undertakes to mobilize all its material resources, its spaces and its means of transport in favor of the national effort, which can be used in the fight against the spread of COVID-19 and its consequences.
The Covid-19 fund is endowed with an envelope of 10 billion dirhams, and is reserved, among other things, for the coverage of expenses for upgrading the medical system to treat people who would be affected by the virus under good conditions, for supporting the national economy, through measures that will be proposed by the Economic Monitoring Committee, in order to mitigate the social impacts.
