Moroccan Prisons to Produce 20,000 Face Masks Daily in COVID-19 Prevention Effort

Prisons are also involved in the fight against the spread of covid-19. 20,000 masks will soon be produced daily by about twenty prisons, equipped with equipment and raw materials.
These efforts by the prison establishments are supported by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), according to a joint press release from the General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR) and the UNDP Office.
This dual collaboration aims not only to contribute to the prevention of covid-19 by equipping the mask production workshops with protection, but also to train inmates in new manufacturing techniques and new practices required by the labor market. It also aims to prepare their reintegration.
According to the DGAPR, all production steps are subject to the applicable controls and comply with the health standards adopted at the national level and meet the requirements of the supervisory departments.
Several inmates of these prison establishments have enhanced their know-how and contributed to the collective effort to remedy the pandemic thanks to this initiative, it is noted with satisfaction.
