Moroccan Prison Refutes Claims of Mistreatment of Tunisian Drug Trafficking Suspects

The administration of the local prison of L’Oudaya in Marrakech rejected, on Saturday, rumors about the poor detention conditions of three Tunisian women involved in an international drug trafficking case.
In a clarification, the administration of the penitentiary institution stated that these detainees enjoy all the rights granted to them by law in such circumstances. The complaint they are said to have filed, according to information widely relayed by electronic sites, does not exist. The establishment nevertheless points out that one of the detainees was placed in solitary confinement for having shown disrespect to an employee, reports the MAP.
The administration of the establishment emphasizes that it does its best to ensure respect for the rights of all detainees. Proof of this, one of the three women was placed in the block reserved for pregnant women or those accompanied by their children, after giving birth to a baby, specifies the same source.
