Moroccan Prime Minister Akhannouch Confirms Imminent Cabinet Reshuffle

The Head of the Moroccan Government, Aziz Akhannouch, plans to reshuffle his team. Some ministers are expected to lose their positions.
In a recent statement to the press, Aziz Akhannouch confirmed the imminence of a mid-term reshuffle. The reshuffle will take into account the new configuration of the majority parties that have renewed their leadership teams. Thus, the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), which has elected a triumvirate at the head of its collegiate leadership, and the Istiqlal party, whose executive committee president, Nizar Baraka, has been reappointed, should join the government.
According to Challenge, major upheavals are not to be expected. Some ministers should lose their portfolios for reasons of incompetence or poor communication. Aziz Akhannouch is said to have already submitted proposals for new ministers to King Mohammed VI. Some ministerial portfolios, considered too heavy, could be lightened, and other ministerial departments could be given more responsibilities.
Aziz Akhannouch formed his first government of 24 ministers, including 5 delegate ministers, following the legislative elections of September 2021, won by his party, the National Rally of Independents (RNI). A coalition had been formed with the PAM and the Istiqlal, who came second and third in these elections.
