Moroccan Population in Spain Dips Slightly, Remains Largest Foreign Community

The number of Moroccans legally settled in Spain has slightly decreased during the first six months of this year, reaching 767,180 as of last July 1, according to figures provided by the Spanish authorities.
This figure is down 1%, the Spanish National Institute of Statistics (INE) said, noting that a total of 5,325,907 foreigners were counted during the same period.
However, Moroccans remain the largest foreign community legally settled in Spain, the same source adds, noting that more than 275,000 Moroccans were registered with the social security system in Spain at the end of October last year.
The rest of the foreign community consists of Romanians (639,426 people), followed by the British (320,276), Colombians (294,291), Italians (286,466), Venezuelans (207,583), Chinese (194,206) and Germans (141,567).
As of July 1, 2021, the Spanish population stood at 47,326,687 inhabitants, down 72,007 people from January 1 this year, according to the INE.
