Moroccan Police Uncover Jihadist Recruitment Through Military and Money Transfer Services

Military service and money transfer agencies serve as a gateway for aspiring jihadists. This is revealed by the investigations conducted by the National Brigade of Judicial Police (BNPJ).
The investigations highlighted the case of a young man accused of robbing a money transfer agency, having links with external terrorist groups, reports Assabah.
The law enforcement authorities conducted searches at the home of the accused’s parents. The harvest was good: bladed weapons, a fake pistol, writings and documents praising Daesh and beheading scenes were seized.
The aspiring jihadist closely followed the news of the Islamic State. He wanted to follow in the footsteps of one of his acquaintances who had gone to fight in Syria, specifically in the ranks of the Sham Al-Islam group, informs the same source. In 2014, the accused had become radicalized.
Without support, he had decided to seek the financial means to allow him to join Daesh in Syria or the Sahel. This is how he would have gone to rob a money transfer agency. But he was unlucky. He will be arrested by the police.
