Moroccan Police Seize Over 2 Tons of Cannabis in Major Drug Bust

On Friday evening, the security services of the city of Ksar el-Kébir thwarted an attempt to traffic 2,360 kilograms of cannabis resin. They also arrested an individual who would have links with a drug and psychotropic trafficking network.
In a statement, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) indicated that the operation took place in a rural area located about 30 km from the city of Ksar el-Kébir, and made it possible to seize 65 bales containing 2,360 kg of cannabis resin and three bladed weapons, hidden in two vehicles.
The suspect, who was taken into custody, will be investigated to determine the ins and outs of this case.
Since March 20, Morocco has stepped up operations to discourage trafficking on land, sea, of all kinds of prohibited drugs. The latest report provided by the DGSN shows more than 217 tons of cannabis resin seized in Morocco in 2020.
