Moroccan Police Seize Over 1.2 Tons of Cannabis in International Smuggling Bust

The security agents stationed in El Guerguerat, in southern Morocco, thwarted, on Saturday, an attempt to internationally traffic one ton and 273 kilograms of cannabis resin.
The arrest took place during a check carried out on an international goods transport truck, according to a press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
The searches made it possible to seize more than a ton of cannabis hidden inside a cargo of foodstuffs. The truck driver, a 37-year-old Moroccan, was taken into custody and made available to the territorially competent security services.
An investigation has been opened under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office in order to identify any possible accomplices and ramifications in this case, the statement concludes.
