Moroccan Police Refute Viral Claims of Acid Attacks on Women

The information that several women have been attacked with acid is false, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has categorically denied in a statement.
In this audio widely shared on the WhatsApp messaging service, it would be a question of a woman who claims "that six cases of acid disfigurement have been recorded in one day against women, victims of delinquents who pretend to be beggars on the road axes".
"Since these alleged crimes negatively and strongly affect the sense of security in the general public, particularly women," the DGSN has decided to open an investigation and gives the first results this Tuesday, March 5. "The investigations have shown that the security services nationwide have not recorded any such cases and that no girl or woman has suffered disfigurement according to the imaginary criminal modus operandi described in the said audio recording," it is explained.
Furthermore, the police services consulted the radio station that would be the source of this audio but it denied having published an audio sequence or information of this type, it is reported.
The DGSN also states that it is continuing the investigation to "determine the party behind this kind of false information".
