Moroccan Police Refute Claims of Attempted Rape, Confirm Robbery Report by Italian Student in Rabat

The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has just denied the information published by the press according to which an Italian national was the victim of an attempted rape and kidnapping in Rabat.
"The only complaint received by the Rabat police prefecture is related to an attempted violent theft filed by an Italian student on an internship in Morocco, against three individuals who, on board a light vehicle, tried to rob her around 2:30 a.m., at the level of the al Adarissa street in the capital," the DGSN said in a statement.
And to specify that the police services reacted with speed and the necessary seriousness in the face of this case, by recording "the complaint and viewing the surveillance camera recording, placed near the scene of the incident, which showed an individual getting out of a parked light vehicle, and whose identification is made thanks to facial recognition."
The complaint for attempted theft is still ongoing, the police maintain, refuting at the same time "the allegations attempting to pass this case off as a rape and attempted kidnapping."
