Moroccan Police Officials Disciplined for Data Breach in Transgender Arrest Case

Several senior police officials have been sanctioned by the Director General of the National Security Directorate (DGSN) following the disclosure of the personal data of a transvestite arrested on January 1st following a car accident.
"The Director General of National Security has decided on disciplinary sanctions ranging from temporary suspension of work to reprimand or warning against four officials of the Marrakech police prefecture for failure to fulfill professional obligations and for not taking the necessary preventive measures to preserve the personal data of an individual who was the subject of a preliminary investigation into a traffic accident," says a statement from the DGSN.
The sanctioned officials are "a divisional police commissioner, a chief commissioner, a senior peace officer and a peace officer," the statement specifies, stating that these sanctions follow "the administrative investigation conducted by the General Inspectorate on the instructions of the Director General of National Security."
"The investigation precisely determined the faults attributed to these security officials, namely the lack of rigor in protecting the personal data of individuals who are the subject of judicial procedures and investigations," it is further written.
Videos and photos of this man dressed as a woman had been widely circulated on social media on January 1st, but the police investigation focuses on the dissemination of a photo of his identity card.
