Moroccan Police Officers Praised for Heroic Rescue of Suicidal Woman in Guelmim

The Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Abdellatif Hammouchi, praised the "high and distinguished level of professionalism" demonstrated by two police officers who saved a woman from a suicide attempt by hanging in Guelmim.
The two police officers, a sergeant and a police officer, operating at the control post at the entrance to the city of Guelmim, had saved a 38-year-old woman who was attempting to commit suicide by hanging, according to a statement from the Agadir police prefecture, adding that she wanted to end her life due to "problems arising from marital conflicts".
On Sunday, the Director General of National Security sent the two officers a letter of congratulation in recognition of their "high and distinguished level of professionalism". The police chief expressed his "high appreciation for their intervention which allowed to protect a woman and prevented her from committing suicide," the note said.
It added that "this proactive security intervention reflects the high level of professionalism of the police and shows the sacrifices made by the security officials to preserve the right to life as one of the fundamental human rights".
