Moroccan Police Officer Among Six Arrested for Violating COVID-19 Restrictions in Fez Cafes

Six individuals, including a police officer, were arrested in Fez for violating the state of health emergency. These security operations carried out by the police were conducted in two cafes in the spiritual capital.
The accused were apprehended for their alleged involvement in the violation of the measures imposed by the state of emergency and the management of shisha consumption premises without authorization. In a statement, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) indicates that in the two cafes, subject of the control, the police found a flagrant disregard for physical distancing.
In addition to the manager of the first cafe, a police officer, co-owner of the second cafe, as well as four waitresses who served shisha to their customers without authorization and without taking the necessary health precautions, fifteen hookahs were also seized during this operation.
The accused were placed in custody for the preliminary investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office.
