Moroccan Police Dismantle Two Human Trafficking Networks in Nador

The services of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) succeeded in putting an end to the activities of two networks of illegal immigration and human trafficking operating in Nador, at the end of last week.

Last Saturday, four individuals suspected of belonging to a network of human trafficking and illegal immigration were apprehended in the Nador and Selouane regions by elements of the national brigade of the judicial police.

According to the daily Al Massae, the investigations carried out on site made it possible to intercept nine sub-Saharan Africans about to emigrate illegally to the other side of the Mediterranean, seizing in the process a Zodiac engine as well as two cars, several mobile phones, a tear gas bomb, a pair of binoculars and a significant sum of money.

Two days earlier, five other individuals linked to a criminal network of illegal immigration and human trafficking were arrested by the security services in Nador. This operation resulted in the arrest of a truck driver, the subject of several national arrest warrants, in the act of transporting five clandestine sub-Saharan Africans.

The investigations conducted by the police services thus made it possible to seize several means of transport as well as devices used in the trafficking of clandestine immigrants, including nine inflatable boats, twelve fast Zodiac engines, two cars as well as mechanical and electronic parts used in maritime navigation.

In a press release, the DGSN announced that the two operations were carried out in consultation with the Spanish police services, as part of the bilateral cooperation between the two countries to fight cross-border crimes.
