Moroccan Police Commissioner Draws Weapon to Subdue Violent Suspect in Tiflet

A police commissioner working at the regional police station in Tiflet was forced to draw his weapon, without using it, to arrest a 25-year-old individual. He would be involved in a case of violence against ascendants and is accused of having exposed police elements to a serious threat using a blunt object.
Elements of the second police district of Tiflet had intervened to arrest the 25-year-old suspect, based on a complaint for violence against ascendants, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
The suspect tried to flee by taking the roof of his home in the Rachad neighborhood, while threatening the police elements with a stick, the DGSN said. Subsequently, the police commissioner was forced to draw his service weapon to arrest the defendant, the same source continued.
The police officer, injured in the ankle during this intervention, was taken to the hospital to receive the necessary care.
For now, the suspect has been taken into custody.
