The case had come to light after a colleague discovered the embezzlement of one million dirhams from the bank branch where the fugitive, a 23-year-old banker recruited just eight months ago, was working. Alerted, the Taza police elements went to the scene. After which, they opened an investigation.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the employee in question was indeed the author of this theft. According to the investigators, the fugitive had transferred half of the amount, and put the second half in a cash basket before disappearing.
The investigations continued and proved more fruitful. The Taza police elements, in coordination with their colleagues from Tangier, were able to locate and arrest the wanted banker sipping a drink in a cafe.
