Moroccan Police Bust Human Trafficking Ring in Oujda, Arrest 11 Suspects

11 sub-Saharan nationals, including a minor, were arrested on Friday, November 22 in Oujda for their alleged involvement in the organization of illegal immigration, human trafficking, drug, psychotropic and smuggled alcohol trafficking.
According to a press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), cited by the MAP, this operation carried out in collaboration with the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) was a resounding success thanks to the raids carried out in 5 homes in Oujda as part of the fight against illegal immigration and illegal residence in Morocco.
The operation led to the arrest of 75 people of various African nationalities, including 15 women and 6 minors. During this same operation, 48 bottles of alcohol and 27 grams of cannabis, intended for retail sale, were seized.
The results of the investigations and inquiries revealed that 5 of the arrested persons are active in illegal immigration and were preparing candidates for immigration to the European continent for large sums of money, the same media indicates. To these are added 6 other people involved in the trafficking of smuggled alcohol.
All the accused have been placed in custody and under control at the disposal of the investigation, while the candidates for illegal immigration who were arrested have been subjected to the legal and regulatory measures relating to the residence of foreigners in the Kingdom.
