Moroccan Police Arrest Three in Kidnapping and Ransom Plot Linked to Illegal Migration

Three people were arrested on Sunday by the police services in M’diq, in northern Morocco, for their alleged involvement in a case of kidnapping, sequestration and ransom demand.
In a statement, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) indicates that "the initial elements of the investigation reveal that the suspects, including a repeat offender, kidnapped and sequestered a person who refused to drive a zodiac to allow them to illegally reach Spain," adding that "the accused also contacted the victim’s father to demand a ransom of 50,000 dirhams in exchange for his son’s release."
The three suspects were identified and arrested following "intensive" searches and investigations carried out by the police services, the DGSN said.
All three were taken into custody and will be brought before a judge at the end of the investigation.
