Moroccan Police Arrest Two Suspects in Major Money Transfer Agency Heist

An operation was carried out by the police forces in Laâyoune, Smara and Agadir, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance.
This operation, which took place in the middle of the week, led to the arrest of two people, aged 24 and 17, suspected of having participated in a theft in a money transfer agency in Smara, where large sums of money were stolen.
The investigation began on Sunday in Smara, where the police inspected the burglary of a safe containing a large quantity of banknotes in a money transfer agency. After thorough investigations, the stolen safe was found in an isolated area of Smara.
To conduct the judicial investigation, the Smara police worked with the anti-gang unit of Laâyoune and the judicial police of Agadir. The first suspect was captured in Smara, while the second was arrested in Chouatat, near Taroudant. During the searches, a large part of the stolen money was seized and recovered.
The two suspects are now being questioned under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office to uncover all the details of the case.
