Belgium Eyes Moroccan Defender El Ouahdi for National Team Amid Right-Back Search

Zakaria El Ouahdi, the talented defender, is on the radar of Domenico Tedesco, the coach of the Red Devils, who is looking for a solution at the right-back position. Tedesco is closely following the player’s performances in the Pro League, where he has established himself as one of the best in his position and is attracting the attention of foreign clubs.
Although he has opted for the Moroccan sports nationality several years ago, El Ouahdi has not yet played for the Atlas Lions. Despite a call-up and participation in the Paris Olympics with Morocco, he could still wear the Belgian jersey. A possibility that would interest him all the more since he was not selected in Walid Regragui’s latest list.
"We are following his situation, as we do for many players," Tedesco said at a press conference. The Belgian coach remains cautious and wants to clarify the player’s situation before making any decision. "We often receive contradictory information, and we want to be sure of what it is," he added, citing the case of Mile Svilar, initially considered an option for Belgium.
"For El Ouahdi, we do not yet have certainty, but we will certainly look into it further," Tedesco affirmed. For now, the coach has preferred to call up Joaquin Seys, another Pro League player, to reinforce the right-back position.
