Moroccan Pilgrims Face 11-Hour Delay on Royal Air Maroc Flight to Mecca

About ten pilgrims were waiting for the Royal Air Maroc (RAM) plane at Moulay Ali Cherif Airport in the city of Errachidia. An unexplained 11-hour delay forced them to spend a sleepless night before they could reach Mecca to perform the pilgrimage rites.
The flight to Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca was scheduled for Monday, July 22 at 10:45 pm. But boarding did not take place until the next morning at 10 am, forcing the pilgrims to sleep on the floor at Errachidia Airport.
In this regard, no information was communicated to the pilgrims, nor any gesture from the airport authorities, even though the passengers, mostly elderly people from distant regions, needed special assistance.
According to statements by a human rights activist in Errachidia, "in developed countries that respect human beings, a 10-minute delay would have forced the authorities to apologize and compensate the passengers, but we are just poor pilgrims from Tafilalet, powerless except to begin the pilgrimage rites at the airport".
