Moroccan Parents in Italy Demand Answers After Newborn’s Fall at Hospital
In Italy, a Moroccan couple has filed a complaint after their daughter allegedly fell at the maternity hospital. Her parents say the baby, Neama, suffered head trauma and was transferred to a children’s hospital in Naples. Her family is demanding an explanation.

On October 5, Maati and Bahria welcomed their daughter Neama at Marcianise Hospital, near Caserta. Shortly after the birth, the newborn allegedly fell accidentally and suffered head trauma, according to a complaint filed by her Moroccan parents, the Italian news agency ANSA reports.
The girl was transferred to Santobono Children’s Hospital in Naples, where she was still hospitalized on October 16. Since the incident, her father says he has repeatedly contacted doctors to find out about her condition, but has not received the answers he was seeking.
A complaint to find out what happened
The father says doctors did not tell him until October 14 that an MRI was needed, and that it was scheduled for Monday, October 19. The couple is seeking details in particular about the possible consequences of the trauma.
With the assistance of their lawyer, Francesco Petruzzi, Maati and Bahria filed a complaint with the Carabinieri. They are asking for the circumstances of the fall to be established and any liability to be determined. Their action recalls that of a Moroccan father who had to request a medical report after his daughter was hospitalized.
