Moroccan Opposition Party PPS to Exit Government Coalition Amid Dysfunction Claims

After exposing a number of dysfunctions affecting the Government, the political bureau of the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS) has decided to withdraw from the Executive. To this end, it intends to submit its decision for approval to the PPS Central Committee, which will meet on Friday.
"The PPS has regretfully noted that the government has remained, since its investiture, prisoner of a logic of management lacking political inspiration allowing it to carry out the current stage and the pressing files". This is how the political bureau of the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS) explained the dysfunctions of the Government in a statement.
Similarly, the Party noted that a negative climate of disagreement has marked the relations between the components of the executive, relations characterized by unacceptable political practices. "In this regard, the spirit of electoral competition has taken precedence over anything else in the perspective of the 2021 legislative elections, a state of affairs that has sown a sense of despair among large segments of society who have lost confidence in political action," it is stated.
The political bureau also notes the government’s inability to respond positively and promptly to the pressing social demands of certain social categories, at a time when economic growth is clearly slowing down.
Furthermore, "the PPS notes with pride the important contents of the royal speeches pronounced recently, which call on the government to adopt initiatives, in order to concretize the required reforms in various fields, particularly those directly related to the daily life of citizens," deploring that the executive "has not been up to the task".
