Moroccan Opposition Leader Criticizes Diplomatic Ties with Israel, Citing Palestinian Concerns

A year later, there is still opposition to the normalization of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Israel. Deputy Nabila Mounib, Secretary General of the Unified Socialist Party (PSU), believes that it does not serve the interests of the kingdom.
During a conference organized at the headquarters of her party in Casablanca last Sunday, in the presence of Aziz Rhali, president of the Moroccan Association of Human Rights (AMDH), Khaled El Bekkari, university professor and Abderrahim Jeddi, lawyer at the Marrakech bar, Nabila Mounib displayed her opposition to "any form of normalization with the Zionist entity because it does not serve" Morocco. "We will rather be used in order to further isolate the Palestinian people," she believes.
According to the elected official, the tripartite agreement signed between Morocco, Israel and the United States at King Mohammed VI’s palace a year ago "will mortgage national sovereignty and ensure that the decision will no longer be in our hands." "How can we demand tomorrow, Sebta, Melilla and the Zaffarines islands," she questions.
