Moroccan Olive Oil from Kelaâ des Sraghna and Rhamna Regions Seeks Certification

The Department of Agriculture has called on the expertise of the Phyto Consulting firm to develop a distinctive sign of origin and a specific quality for the olive oil from Kelaâ des Sraghna and Rhamna.
The process of characterization and enhancement of olive oil from Kelaâ des Sraghna and Rhamna is underway. With the work done by the Phyto Consulting firm, this oil will soon have its distinctive sign of origin, reports Le Matin.
Data from the Department of Agriculture indicate that olive growing is the main arboricultural sector in the Marrakech-Safi region with an area of 235,000 ha, or 22% of the national olive area. The two project areas are part of this region.
The production of the region represents on average 25% of the national olive production. It contributes 64% to national exports of canned olives and 24% to olive oil exports, it is specified. With an area of nearly 76,000 hectares, the production of the province of Kelaâ des Sraghna represents more than 40% of that of the region.
