Moroccan Officials Join Hanukkah Celebration in Casablanca, Marking Historic First

Moroccan authorities participated in Casablanca, for the first time, in the celebration of Hanukkah, in order to support the Jewish community.
The Wali of the Casablanca-Settat region, Said Ahmidouch, and the Governor of the Casablanca-Anfa Prefecture, Rachid Afirat, honored the event, which took place in a Casablanca hotel, with their presence.
A total of 800 members of the Jewish community attended this celebration.
According to Rabbi Levi Banon, head of Chabad Jeunesse Maroc, this special celebration is a strong message of peace and tolerance.
According to him, Morocco, under the leadership and dynamism of King Mohammed VI, is a true model for the promotion of "living together" between communities.
Morocco now has nearly 2,000 Jews, according to the Central Bureau of Statistics of Israel.
