Moroccan Official Aids Evicted Algerians, Pays Utility Bills Amid Coronavirus Lockdown

While the entire population is confined to their homes following the state of emergency imposed by the Moroccan government to curb the coronavirus epidemic, two Algerian nationals found themselves on the street for failing to pay their water and electricity bills.
The owner of an apartment in Mdiq, lacking patience and a spirit of solidarity, decided to evict two young Algerians, in disregard of the principles of benevolence that characterize Moroccans.
Thanks to the intervention of a city official, who offered to pay their electricity and water bills, the two Algerians were able to return to their home.
This did not prevent the official from denouncing the selfish behavior of the landlord in a message broadcast in a video. "This is a critical period and Moroccans are known for their generosity. You should have honored them during this confinement phase."
