Moroccan Newlyweds Arrested as Wedding Parties Violate COVID-19 Restrictions

In Béni Mellal and Meknes, the police elements arrested, last weekend, several people participating in wedding parties for violation of the state of health emergency. The couples spent part of their wedding night at the police station.
While the cases of Covid-19 contamination continue to increase in the kingdom, many Moroccans continue to violate the state of health emergency recently extended until October 10.
Following an alert, the local authorities and the security services had to intervene, last Sunday, to put an end to the celebration of a wedding in a banquet hall located in the administrative district of Béni Mellal, reports Assabah. About 60 people were participating in a festive evening in a villa. The police elements arrested the newlyweds, the father of the groom and the owner of the premises. They were taken to the police station.
In Meknes, the police elements arrested, on Saturday, about forty people present at an engagement ceremony, which took place in a villa located in an upscale neighborhood. Among the people arrested were the engaged couple, the director of a bank, owner of the villa, and the members of the orchestra who were animating this evening.
