Moroccan Navy Seizes Ton of Cannabis, Arrests 5 in Mediterranean Drug Bust

An operation carried out in the Mediterranean allowed Royal Moroccan Navy coast guards to intercept a sailboat, two jet skis and a go-fast, used in drug trafficking.
The operation also led to the arrest of three Spaniards, two Moroccans, and the seizure of nearly a ton of cannabis resin. The traffickers and the cargo were handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for the legal procedures in force.
Recent months have been marked by large drug seizures, especially with the state of health emergency declared in Morocco since March 20 last and which continues until October 10 next. On September 7, the Moroccan security services seized 3.7 tons of drugs divided into 110 bales, near the city of Azemmour, 177 km south of Rabat.
