Moroccan Nationals Blocked from Protesting in Algiers Amid Repatriation Dispute

The Algerian authorities prevented, on Sunday, Moroccan nationals from demonstrating in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Algiers. Marginalized during the repatriation operation, they decided to organize a sit-in protest.
According to the Algerian newspaper Alkhabar, a dozen protesters, blocked since the borders were closed, were dispersed by the police, even before reaching the headquarters of the ministry where they had intended to hold a rally.
Before taking refuge at the ministry, the "forgotten" had tried to meet the Moroccan ambassador to Algiers. But their request had been rejected, reported the site Alyaoum24. They gathered a few meters from the headquarters of the Algerian diplomacy.
The repatriation operation of Moroccans, initiated by the Moroccan government on May 30, concerned in particular people meeting the criteria of vulnerability. In total, 600 Moroccan nationals were able to return to the country.
