Moroccan Mother Demands DNA Test After Alleged Baby Swap at Rabat Hospital

Another scandal has just broken out at the "Souissi" maternity ward, under the Ibn Sina University Hospital in Rabat. Kept for three days after birth, in the neonatology department, a female baby was exchanged with another, male. The mother of the first refuses to leave the hospital before having a DNA test done on the newborn.
According to the Moroccan Network for the Defense of the Right to Health and the Right to Life, relayed by the Belwadeh site, the mother, who remained at the hospital for nine days, demands that her daughter be returned to her or that the DNA of the male baby be carried out.
Following the protests of the mother and her family, the hospital management convened doctors and midwives to a meeting on Friday, August 16, 2019, to deliberate on this scandal which is apparently not the first of its kind in the establishment.
The Network for the Defense of the Right to Health and the Right to Life condemns the attitude of the hospital administration, which, according to the Association, often resorts to press releases that only serve to mislead public opinion. It calls on the Ministry of Health and the Government to fully assume their responsibilities and intervene in order to defend the rights of Moroccan families.
