Moroccan Minister Sparks Outrage, Calls Rif Residents ’Smuggling Mafias’ at Student Event

The Minister of Energy and Mines, Aziz Rebbah, was forced to end his speech and leave the meeting organized on Sunday, December 15, by Moroccan students in Lille.
According to the Barlamane website, the participants would not have appreciated the remarks of the member of the Party of Justice and Development (PJD), who described the inhabitants of the Moroccan Rif as smuggling mafias.
"Their protest method resembles that of mafias," he said during the meeting, provoking very strong reactions from the students present, some of whom preferred to leave the room.
The minister was confronted with a wave of protests and reproaches, making the exchange difficult. A heavy atmosphere prevailed in the room, forcing the PJD member to interrupt his speech.
