Moroccan Military Officers Visit NATO Headquarters to Strengthen Partnership

A delegation of officers from the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) visited the installations of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) from June 17 to 18, 2019, as part of the partnership between the institution and Morocco.

According to the NATO communiqué, relayed by Le Matin, this visit was made by a "high-level Moroccan delegation, composed of officers from the Royal Armed Forces" received by "the Division ’Political Affairs and Security Policy’ of the NATO International Secretariat". To facilitate this visit, De Santis, Head of the "Middle East and North Africa" Section at NATO, briefed the delegation on some aspects of NATO’s cooperation with the countries that have joined the Mediterranean Dialogue initiative, including Morocco, in February 1995, Israel, Egypt, Mauritania, Tunisia and Jordan, as well as those of the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative.

In turn, Air Force Major General Jan Kazimierz Toft, Head of the "Cooperative Security" Division of NATO’s International Military Staff, reviewed the military cooperation activities carried out by the Organization with partner countries. Emphasis was also placed on activities that promote international security, improve interoperability between the armed forces of the various countries concerned and project stability.

It should be noted that the delegation benefited from various presentations and discussions on various topics, including "NATO’s relations with the countries of the Mediterranean Dialogue and the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative", "Current political issues related to NATO", "The Science for Peace Program" and "Peace and Security (SPS)".
