Moroccan Migrant Survives in Abandoned Granada Cinema After Perilous Sea Crossing

Idriss, 23, left Morocco by swimming and arrived in Granada three months ago. Homeless, he squats in the former Multicines Centro cinema and survives thanks to the generosity of the neighbors.
Idris has set up his own private space, with blankets and cardboard, in the stairwell of the Multicines Centro, closed ten years ago. The young man with curly hair speaks very little Spanish, but manages to make himself understood with gestures. He tells the newspaper Ideal that he did not find a place on the pateras and had to swim from Morocco to Granada. In his small improvised space, we find a backpack, clothes, headphones and an old mattress. During cold periods, he says he benefits from the help of some neighbors.
Since his arrival in Granada, Idriss has been living in this space. The young man says he "works", but also that he "is looking for work". With gestures, he indicates that he is a hairdresser. But he is looking for a job that will bring him more money to improve his living conditions and take care of himself more properly.
