Moroccan Man on Trial for 2017 ’Burqa Killer’ Murder in Toulouse

During the trial of the men accused of the murder in a burqa, in July 2017 in Toulouse, the Haute-Garonne Assize Court is looking into the personality of the Moroccan Walid Derqaoui and Yacine Frikass, a friend of another defendant. At the helm, President Michel Huyette.
Born in Morocco, Walid Derqaoui arrived in Toulouse from 2000 at the age of 8. In 5th grade, this boy, the only son of a father’s second wife, decides to drop out of school. He falls into delinquency. Walid multiplies offenses. At 16, he is placed in detention. In 2017, he is accused of being the burqa killer. Djamel Tarhi had been executed with 9 bullets of 7.62 mm, on July 3, in La Reynerie, a district of Toulouse.
The young Moroccan claims his innocence. But there is one fact that compromises him. He is the brother of Abdelhakim Derqaoui, murdered on March 1, 2016 in Reynerie. According to the investigators, Walid Derqaoui would be the man with the stroller and the burqa who killed Djamel Tarhi to avenge his brother. During the hearing, the president and the public prosecutor Sénat asked for details, particularly on the money, "about 5,000 euros per month" that he had, reports La Dépêche du Midi. "Apartments in Morocco, my mother bought them and I sell cars that I buy damaged in Germany... My only offense is to do it off the books," the defendant defends himself.
Yacine Frikass, 25, accused of complicity, has a very different personality from that of Wahid. Described as a serious, motivated, joyful young man, he is accused of having housed Abdelkader Ramdani, accused of being one of the shooters. His friendship with Kamel Bettouati, another defendant, also compromised him. "Yes, he was my friend. Not the only one but the best," Yacine admits.
