The Criminal Chamber of the city of Granada, in southern Spain, has just sentenced a Moroccan national to 29 years in prison, for voluntary manslaughter and burglary.
The 22-year-old man had strangled an elderly person at his home, which he had come to burgle. He confessed, following the results of the DNA tests carried out on the samples taken from the crime scene.
Having been surprised in the middle of the burglary, the young man had preferred to cover up his act with a crime. The autopsy results revealed that the woman who had died a violent death had been the victim of strangulation.
The individual was sentenced to 25 years in prison for murder and 4.5 years for burglary, with a fine of 120,000 euros in favor of the victim’s heirs.
