Moroccan Man Sentenced for Vehicle Break-ins in Perpignan, Faces Deportation

The Perpignan court sentenced a young Moroccan to eight months in prison for a series of thefts from vehicles. He is subject to an obligation to leave the territory (OQTF).
Ibrahim, a young Moroccan who arrived illegally in France in 2017, has already spent two years in prison for committing offenses. But his legal troubles are not over. His DNA, identified during his previous arrests, puts him in trouble. He is suspected of being responsible for a series of thefts from vehicles committed on June 17 in downtown Perpignan, reports L’Indépendant.
A small drop of blood left in a car betrays Ibrahim. While he had already been placed in detention to serve a sentence handed down in January for theft, violence, contempt and rebellion, the analysis results come in. At the bar, the defendant claims to be in Spain at the time of the facts. The prosecution does not believe him. The prosecutor requested 8 months in prison and the 5-year ban on French territory pronounced in 2019.
The young Moroccan’s lawyer tries to convince the president. "Since his arrival in France, 4 years ago, he has spent half of his time in prison. A curious choice of life, no doubt due to his addictions and psychological disorders. But the care he received in detention helped him. He became aware of the situation and now wants to go home. Which he will do if you do not issue the committal order," pleads Maitre Chassonnaud. The president will not take his argument into account. The verdict is in: in addition to the sentence in progress, Ibrahim was sentenced to 8 months in prison.
