Moroccan Man Sentenced to One Year in Prison for Stealing Sandals from Mosque

For having stolen a pair of sandals in a mosque, an individual was sentenced to one year in prison with a fine of 500 dirhams.
According to the website Article 19, the individual, who was accompanied by an accomplice, was ordered by the judge to return the pair of shoes to its owner. As for the accomplice, he was sentenced to 6 months in prison with a suspended sentence and a fine of 2,000 dirhams.
The theft took place in a mosque in Safi, adds the site, which however does not specify whether the two defendants were so severely punished for reasons of recidivism.
It should be recalled that the judgment was handed down on Monday, September 2, by the investigating judge of the Court of First Instance of Safi.
