Moroccan Man Sentenced to Life for Wife’s Murder in Tangier Forest

The Court of Appeal of Tangier ruled on Tuesday, September 12, in a criminal case that deeply marked the city.
The man tried for the murder of his wife, whom he had buried in a forest on the outskirts of Tangier in May, was sentenced to life imprisonment, reports the newspaper Al Akhbar.
During his trial, the man had confessed his crime, saying that the murder resulted from a dispute over money and arguing that his wife had used that money to buy a cell phone for their daughter while he was fighting cancer.
The case had begun with the worrying disappearance of the victim, a woman in her fifties, which had prompted several complaints from her family. The investigators had quickly focused their suspicions on the husband. The latter had finally confessed his crime during the interrogations, then leading the law enforcement authorities to the place where he had buried his wife.
