Moroccan Man Fined 750 Dirhams for Violating COVID-19 Mask Mandate

A man is sentenced to pay a fine of 750 DH for refusing to wear his protective mask. This is the verdict handed down by the court of first instance in Tiznit.
The justice system accuses him of having trampled on the preventive measures recorded within the framework of the law on the state of health emergency and the procedures of its declaration, as reported by the MAP.
Faced with the surge in Covid-19 cases in certain cities of the kingdom, the government council chaired by Saâdeddine El Otmani adopted, on Thursday, draft decree-law No. 2.20.503 supplementing decree-law No. 2.20.292 of 28 Rajab 1441 (March 23, 2020) relating to the state of health emergency and the procedures for its declaration.
By adopting this text, the council intends to work for a more effective implementation of the repressive provisions enacted by decree-law No. 2.20.292 by including specific provisions related to non-compliance with physical distancing between people and the wearing of masks as preventive measures intended to curb the spread of the epidemic.
