Moroccan Man Dies from Mosquito-Borne Illness Contracted in Ivory Coast

A Moroccan in his thirties died this week in Fès from apparently malaise caused by a mosquito bite during his stay in Côte d’Ivoire.
According to information from Hibapress, the man, who was married, worked in a timber company in Côte d’Ivoire, when he was bitten by a mosquito.
Despite the efforts of the rescue teams on site, his condition deteriorated to the point of being urgently transferred to a private clinic in Fès, the same source specifies. He will die there a few days later.
Moroccan expatriates, often exposed to this kind of situation, also endure the sometimes very difficult living conditions on site but also the risk of contracting dangerous tropical diseases. This was the case, for example, of a Moroccan woman in 2014 who had died in Côte d’Ivoire after contracting malaria.
