Moroccan Man Claiming to be ’Messiah’ Jailed for Inciting Violence and Assaulting Officer

An individual from Oued Zem, who took himself for "the messiah", urging people to invade mosques, was arrested and then sentenced to three years in prison.
The individual stormed the street, inciting the population to violence and civil disobedience. In less than two hours, he found himself in prison, reports the daily Al Akhbar. He was sentenced to three years in prison on several counts, including assault on a law enforcement officer.
He is also said to have broken the nose of a caïd who arrested him after he had just violated the state of health emergency. Not only did he violate the provisions of the state of emergency, but the accused, arrested last Tuesday, was also encouraging people to do the same, we are told.
According to the same daily, the man was in a hysterical state at the time of his arrest, and kept shouting that he was the savior and that people should follow him for their salvation, also urging them to go out into the street and force the opening of mosques, closed for several weeks in accordance with the security measures imposed by the government to fight against the coronavirus. The accused claimed to anyone who would listen that this virus was just a "lie".
The defendant was finally brought under control thanks to the intervention of the police called in as reinforcements. He was then taken into custody, pending his appearance before the public prosecutor. The procedure was quickly completed and he was sentenced to three years in prison. As for the law enforcement officer who was assaulted, he was taken to the hospital. He suffers from a broken nose and the doctor gave him a certificate attesting to more than 30 days of physical incapacity.
