Moroccan Man Arrested in Hamburg for Alleged Anti-Semitic Attack on Rabbi and Jewish Community Member

The German national police services arrested a 45-year-old Moroccan national for insults and insults against two Jews in the city of Hamburg, northern Germany.
According to a statement from the German police, "a Moroccan man was held in pre-trial detention, accused of threats, humiliation and spitting at two Jews in public." The individual was released after lengthy questioning.
The German media reported that the Moroccan national, who speaks Arabic and German, tried to flee before being apprehended by the police. The two Jews, one of whom was a rabbi and a member of the Jewish Community in Germany, had just left a meeting with city officials in Hamburg.
Germany is experiencing a large influx of Moroccan migrants seeking asylum. In 2018, more than 665 of them were deported to Morocco. Among them, 53 received financial support to start projects in their country of origin.
