Moroccan Man Arrested for Falsely Claiming Wife Had COVID-19 to Prevent Her Travel

To get rid of his wife, an individual claimed that she was infected with Covid-19. He was arrested at the end of the week by the Ouled Teima police brigade, in the Taroudant region.
Following a domestic dispute, the man went to the city’s taxis to dissuade them from transporting his wife, on the pretext that she had contracted the coronavirus during a trip to Marrakech. He presented himself as a police officer.
The screening test carried out at the city hospital proved negative, much to the husband’s dismay, who was reported to the police by the taxi drivers. An investigation has been opened into this enigmatic case.
According to the site Akhbarona, the individual, who was prosecuted for false declaration and impersonation, was the subject of several national arrest warrants for various offenses. He was placed in custody pending his appearance before the Public Prosecutor.
