Moroccan Man and Official Jailed for Polygamy and Document Forgery

A sentence of 4 months in prison and a fine of 500 dirhams were handed down against a man and an official. They were accused of polygamy for the former and forgery of an official document for the latter.
The sentence was pronounced by the court of first instance of Imintanout, which also sentenced the second wife to one month in prison and a fine of 500 dirhams.
Prosecuted for forgery of an official document, the man had managed to contract a second marriage unbeknownst to his first wife. The latter had discovered the marriage certificate by rummaging through her husband’s belongings, reports the site Kech24.
During the interrogation, the man admitted to having used an official from a commune in Tan-Tan to establish a false certificate of celibacy.
