Moroccan Lawyers Protest Government’s Legal Profession Reform, Demand Dialogue

Several Moroccan lawyers protested on Wednesday in different cities, demanding the improvement of their working conditions but above all a dialogue around the reform of the law regulating the legal profession, introduced by the government.
Lawyers are angry and they are making it known. Dozens of them demonstrated in Rabat, Tangier and Casablanca.
In the videos that circulated on social media, we can see the men in robes with banners in hand, calling for the rapid enactment of a modern and advanced law for the legal profession and rejecting any law that does not involve them.
Organized by the Federation of Young Lawyers’ Associations, these demonstrations came after statements by the Minister of Justice, Abdellatif Ouahbi, according to which he is committed to making changes and measures concerning the legal profession.
Specifically, the government wants to take legal action against lawyers who violate the law and to reconsider the law regulating the profession.
