Moroccan Lawmakers Push to Ban TikTok, Citing Youth Safety Concerns

Several Moroccan deputies call for the ban of TikTok in Morocco. They are concerned about the quality of content published on this Chinese social network, which, according to them, poses a danger to youth.
In a written question to the Minister of Digital Transition, PAM deputy Hanane Atarguine wished to know the measures taken by the government to protect minors from "inappropriate" and "harmful" content on social networks. "On several applications, practices and behaviors punished by law escape control [...], such as begging and harassment and other phenomena," she points out in her question. The MP also noted that many countries have already banned the use of certain social networks on their territory and taken measures to limit minors’ access to their content.
For his part, Nabil Dakhch, a member of the Haraki group in the House of Representatives, in a written question to the Minister of Culture and Youth, said that the use of "TikTok has recently spread, prompting many countries to take measures, either to legalize the platform, or to ban it completely, in order to protect children, adolescents, young people and citizens." The deputy did not fail to alert on the effects of TikTok and similar platforms on the psychological and intellectual state of users.
